Tips for Eyebrow Piercing
Why are so many people trying out eyebrow piercings at the moment? That’s cause eyebrow piercings can serve as embellishment for your eyebrows, and can draw attention to your eyes.
Before you have your eyebrows pierced, here are some things to keep in mind!
Things to keep in mind
New eyebrow piercings tend to bruise and swell. However, this should pass shortly after the procedure. But if problems persist, make sure to consult a doctor. And although you may be excited about your new piercing, you should not change jewelry until the piercing is fully healed.
If you are worried about plucking or shaving your brows, you can still do it, but make sure to work carefully around the piercing.
Cleaning the pierced area
Clean the piercing in the shower with saline solution. Use a cotton ball to apply the solution, holding it against the area for 2-3 minutes. Afterwards, clean the piercing area with water and a bit of antibacterial soap. Rinse off the soap thoroughly, then gently dry the piercing with a soft towel or a piece of tissue.
You can also apply a piercing aftercare gel with a q-tip. You can also use this to remove any remaining crusting on the pierced area.
What if the pierced area is infected?
Look for any swelling around the piercing. If it is red or irritated, you might be getting an infection. Now, here’s what you can do: Wet a clean wash cloth with hot water—get it as hot as you can stand to touch. Hold the hot wash cloth against the piercing until it cools.
After that, clean the piercing with salt water. Try this at least twice a day until the infection clears up.
Note that if you develop a bad infection, it’s best to consult with a doctor. Although serious eyebrow piercing infections are rare, they still happen, and should be treated with the right antibiotics.
Choosing the jewelry material
More than the design, what you should consider is the material that your jewelry is made of. Gold is one common choice that is very safe when it comes to getting a piercing. Titanium is also a safe choice. But if you are looking to save money, stainless steel is the cheapest option.
